Based in Los Angeles, California, ,CAL-SOC is a nonprofit vocational trade school, Founded to help inner-city youth, young adults, and those with minimal disabilities, the opportunity to gain a marketable skill. CAL-SOC’s focus will be to train those lacking employable skills that focuses on construction industry education. The facility is a 10,000 square foot building located in the downtown area of the city. The construction industry has always been a source for ground floor entrance, meaning education, economic background or race in most cases has not played a role for employment. Black youth have had a minimal part of any workforce due to the lack of employable skills, compared to other ethnicities. In the alternate, their incarceration rate has soared. The focus of CAL-SOC will be to offer an opportunity to gain access to those employable skills within the construction industry through proper training and guidance. CAL-SOC’s prerequisite for enrolling will be minimal. In keeping with the ease of program entrance, education, race, and socioeconomic status will not be o consideration for entering the program.
